Sams first visit to the beach

Returning home early from work one evening I found the house deserted apart from Sam who looked at me as if to say "they have left me all alone!" Well what could I do. Sam has been allowed out for a couple of weeks now and all that he had done is walk around the local playing fields, stopping and sniffing everything that takes his fancy. This has been frustrating as I had planned for a dog that would follow by my side wherever I went, whenever I went. I am really finding this training thing hard work, I know what I want to do and so does Sam, well he knows what he wants to do!

A change of scenery was called for and I persuaded Sam to get into the car and drive to the beach, persude is the wrong word, perhaps carry would be better!

Arriving at Anchorsholme, between Blackpool and Cleveleys without any sickness (things are looking up) we proceeded down onto the beach. I had thought that Sam might be afraid of the sight of the sea but he took to it like a duck to water!

Meeting the sea for the first time Please Dad, can I go and play!
Suffice it to say we both had a great time, the beach was deserted and after running here and there to the limit of the lead I could not resist the look in his eye and decided that I could do with a 5 mile run anyway, so I let him loose!
Off the lead for the first time, no sheep to worry about!
Enjoying the freedom of the sands
I was pleasently surprised to find that once off the lead Sam did stay within sight of me! He just ran about here and there but in the general direction that I was walking, there is hope yet!
Spotting some possible new friends, or food! Shall I or shan't I ?
Miles and miles of empty sands did make this much easier with nothing to distract Sam until he spotted some seagulls. He sat and thought about it before going off to introduce himself, he could not understand where they went as he got nearer.
My dad was a Rabbit! Where did they go ?
With only a feather left to play with, and even this was trying its best to escape, Sam had a fun half hour or so, and I have to admit it I did as well.
Are you there ? Home time!
The only down side to this whole experience was at home time when the lead went back on, talk about being stubborn and digging his heels in, Sam did not want play time to end!
